Abstract
Ischaemic diseases, a major public health problem worldwide, are associated with a decrease in oxygen supply to mitochondria that impairs respiration, energy production and constitute stimuli for cell death. This paper summarises the pharmacological strategies targeting the mitochondrial respiratory chain, which represents an interesting therapeutic perspective.
