Prof. Paola Russo was born in Piano di Sorrento
(Italy) in 1977.
In 2001 she graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
And Technology, University of Naples “Federico II”,
after a six-month traineeship in Paris (supported by a
fellowship from the European Students Exchange
Program “Socrates Erasmus”), centre d’Etudes
Pharmaceutiques UMR CNRS 861 Universitè de
Paris-Sud XI.
From 2002 to 2005 she had several research
fellowships from University of Naples “Federico II”,
Lisapharma SpA (Erba, Italy), Consorzio SPINNER,
(Parma, Italy) and Consorzio Interuniversitario
Nazionale di Tecnologie Farmaceutiche TEFARCO
INNOVA (Parma Italy).In 2004, she got her PhD in Drug Science, University of Naples “Federico II”.
From 2005 to 2018, she has been assistant professor in Pharmaceutical Technology,
Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno (Italy).
From 2018, she is associate professor in the same University.
In 2006 she founded, together with other Italian young researchers, the “American Association
of Pharmaceutical Scientists Italian University Network Student Chapter (A.It.U.N.)”, the first
Italian chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, being its chair in
2009.Her research interest mainly focuses on innovative drug delivery systems for respiratory, oral
and topical delivery. Recently, she started working with a 3D-printer for the production of
personalised medicines (via fused deposition modelling).
She is co-author of 50 papers, 4 book chapters, 1 patent and several proceedings.
