She manages several research projects on preventive nutrition and bioactive molecules. She is the investigative author of projects aiming to study the major pathological syndromes related to nutrition: diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and their prevention by functional foods. Prof. Hafisa’s research is oriented towards understanding the origin of chronic diseases that resides in the dysfunction of cells, due to chronic deficiencies in vitamins, minerals, and other essential cellular substances. Her work in humans and also in laboratory animals has clearly shown the existence of metabolic changes during major pathological syndromes. All these abnormalities can be corrected by an optimum intake of micronutrients. Simple changes can result in significant health outcomes.
