Emilio Jirillo is full professor of Immunology at University of Bari Medical School (Bari, Italy) since 1986.His current fields of interest are: mucosal immunity, microbial immunity and immunonutrition.Especially in this last field, he has recently published in vitro and in vivo studies on the anti inflammatory effects of polyphenols . He is author of more than 560 papers(326 scientific papers are listed in PUBMED), even including books and chapters of books. He is also editor-in-chief- of another Bentham journal: Endocrine Metabolic Immune Disorders-Drug Targets.
David Della-Morte has received his MD degree and his PhD in Clinic Physiopathology and Experimental Medicine at University of Naples “Federico II”, Naples, Italy. Since 2006, Dr. Della Morte is working at the Department of Neurology, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, Miami, FL, USA. Currently he is Associate Professor of Neurology at the same University. Since 2013, he is also Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Department of Systems Medicine, University of Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy. Dr. Della-Morte is Director of Laboratory at IRCCS San Raffaele Pisana Rome, Rome, Italy. Dr. Della Morte is involved in both basic and clinical science in the field of aging, metabolic, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. He has authored more than 120 research articles in international journals, more than 10 book chapters and 1 patent. He is serving as ad hoc reviewer of several reputed journals and is co-Editor in Chief of Clinical Immunology, Endocrine & Metabolic Drugs Journal. He is a member of The American Association for the Advancement of Science, The Cure Alliance, and The European Association for the Study of Diabetes. He has honored with several awards from the American Heart Association, and the American National Institute of Health. He is recipient of US O1 VISA for Extraordinary Ability in Science.
Dr. Kohtaro Fujihashi, D.D.S., Ph.D. is a Professor, Departments Pediatric Dentistry and Microbiology, The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been studying T cell immunoregulatory mechanisms in the induction of secretory IgA (SIgA) immunity and oral tolerance for over two decades. During the past five years, his laboratory has extensively assessed mucosal immunity in aging. This work holds promise since nasal vaccine delivery with novel innate immune stimulants, can elicit significant immunity in the upper respiratory tract even in aging. He has published more than 200 scientific publications.
Dr. Kawauchi’s continuous research activity is based on his immunological background. He has extensively elucidated immunological events in the upper respiratory tract such as nasopharynx,middle ear, inner ear, employing animal studies and human materials. Most recently, his research has been directed to the translational approach for down-regulating the upper respiratory tract inflammation such as allergic rhinitis, chronic infective rhinitis, or otitis media with effusion, by elucidating the pathogenesis of these diseases in relation with Toll-like receptors and employing cell-based approach or pharmaceutical treatment.
Dr. Saheem Ahmad, Ph.D., M.A.M.S., is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biosciences at Integral University, Lucknow, India. Primarily his research is focused on immunology, biochemistry and cell biology of rare non-enzymatic glycation reaction. His research group is working on the AGEs-RAGEs interaction (signaling) which activates several pathways including NF-kB, IFN-g and IL-6 and results in the generation of reactive oxygen species. Dr. Ahmad, as an author/co-author, has published more than 65 articles in various journals, having over 835 total citations. Currently, he is sitting on four major research grants, including two young scientist project grants.
After graduating from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Selcuk University, Dr. SalihSanlioglu attended the Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he obtained his Master’s (1992) and PhD (1996) degrees in the field of Molecular Genetics. Following completion of his postdoctoral training at the Human Gene Therapy Institute of University of Pennsylvania and internal medicine research fellowship at the Gene Therapy Center of University of Iowa, He has joined the medical faculty of Akdeniz University, Antalya, Turkiye, and subsequently established the first human gene therapy facility in the country. Although, his initial studies mainly concerned gene therapy of cancer.
Dr. Saisho received his medical degree in 1998 and his PhD degree in 2009, both from the Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo. Before obtaining his current position as assistant professor, Dr. Saisho completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Larry L. Hillblom Islet Research Center at the University of California-Los Angeles’s David Geffen School of Medicine(Prof. Peter C. Butler).Dr. Saisho’s area of interest is Diabetology, especially beta cell dysfunction in diabetes. Dr. Saisho is the author or coauthor of more than 60 publications.
Dr. Tianfu Wu received postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in proteomics and immunology, focusing on autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Dr. Wu has been using proteomic approaches to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets in lupus, melanoma and psoriasis during the past decade, and these research activities have been supported by NIH and private foundations. Dr. Wu has authored or coauthored over 60 papers including original research articles and invited review articles in the field of proteomics, drug targets, biomarkers and autoimmune diseases.
Dr. Khue Vu Nguyen (born in Ha Noi, Viet Nam) is currently Full Project Scientist in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, San Diego, California, U.S.A. He has studied at University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France: B.S. in Biochemistry, M.S. in Molecular Biology, Ph.D. in Macromolecular Physical Chemistry, Ph.D. in Physical Sciences (Doctorat d’Etat es Sciences Physiques). He has worked as Scientist in different French and U.S. Research Institutions and Companies. He is author and co-author of numerous publications and holder of many patents.
Dr. Christos Georgiou is Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Patras (since 2008). He holds B.Sc. in Natural Sciences, Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki, Greece (in 1974), M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Roosevelt University, USA (1979), Ph.D. in Molecular Biology-Biochemistry, Illinois Institute of Technology, USA (1985). Post-doctoral studies in Molecular Biology-Biochemistry, Biochemistry Department, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (1985-1987). Marco Atteritano Obtained In 2000 Medical Degree and in 2005 Specialization with distinction in Internal Medicine at the University of Messina. In 2010 obtained PhD in Specialistic Medicine at University of Messina. He was Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at University of Messina. Currently Research Fellow at University of Messina in Internal Medicine-Rheumatology and coordinator of project of research funded by the Italian Ministry of Health. He won several award in rheumatology field and internal medicine field. He is author of 50 peer-reviewed papers. His main fields of interest are the Rank-Rankl-OPG system in bone disease.
Thea Magrone, B.D., PhD obtained degree in Biology (1997) and Ph.D. in Immunology (2008) from the University of Bari, Italy. She acted as a Consultant in Immunology from 2012 to 2014 and is now a Research Professor of Immunology and General Pathology at the University of Bari, Italy, since 2005. Her fields of interest include Immunonutrition, mucosal immunology and microbial immunity. 55 of her publications are listed in PubMed. She is the editorial board member of Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology, Endocrine Metabolic Immune Disorders-Drug Targets, Clinical Immunology Endocrine Metabolic Drugs, Recent Patent in Biotechnology journal.
Dr. Pere Berbel is currently Professor of Cell Biology and Project Leader at the Department of Histology and Anatomy, University Miguel Hernández (UMH, Spain). B.S. in Biology, M.Sc. in Cell Biology and Ph.D. in Neurosciences (1981), University Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain). He was post-doctoral fellow at the Instuto Cajal (Madrid) and Institue of Anatomy (Lausanne, Switzerland). He was Professor and Director (Departament Histology, University of Alicante, Spain), Director (Departament of Histology and Anatomy, UMH) and of the Neurobiology Research Unit (Instituto de Neurociencias, Alicante). He is author and co-author of 80 publications and was awarded the Spanish “Alberto Sols” Price for his scientific research.
Gianfranco Calogiuri obtained degree in Medicine in 1988 at the Chieti University “G. D’Annunzio. In 1992 he was qualified as Specialist in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. In 1994 he followed a master in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the Bari University. In 2005 he was employed in the Hospital for Respiratory Diseases “Antonio Galateo”. In 2013 he obtained his PhD in Immunology at the Bari Medical School. His main scientific interest is represented by an undervalued aspect of medicine: the pathogenic mechanisms of drug hypersensitivity reactions.
Dr. Barnea discovered PreImplantation Factor (PIF) and investigates its diagnostic and therapeutic applications. BioIncept completed PIF Phase Ib of the First-in-Human Fast-Track, FDA approved, university-sponsored clinical trial (NCT#02239562). Dr. Barnea published over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and edited 4 specialty textbooks. In 1989, he received the Elkeles Prize ‘Scientist of the Year in Medicine’ from the Israel Health Ministry/Jewish National Fund. In 2012 he was awarded the Bratanov medal/prize of ISIR for his contribution to the development of Immunology. In 2016 Dr. Barnea was elected member of SMNH, Safe Motherhood Newborn Health committee of FIGO, the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Professor Calò obtained a MD and PhD Degree from the University of Padua, Italy. He is Specialist in Nephrology and Internal Medicine and European Hypertension Specialist by the European Society of Hypertension. Professor Calò is Associate Professor of Nephrology, Director of the Division of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation at the Padua University Hospital and Director of the Postgraduate School of Nephrology at the University of Padua, Italy. He has published more than 350 scientific publications and is member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Hypertension, Hemodialysis International, Clinical Nephrology, Clinical Immunology, Endocrine & Metabolic Drugs and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
Noah Isakov is a Professor of Immunology at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, in Beer Sheva, Israel, where he holds the Joseph H. Krupp Chair in Cancer Immunobiology. He obtained his PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel (1981) and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN (1981-1983) and the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA (1983-1987). He performed sabbaticals at the NICHD, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD (1993-1995), the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City, OK (2003-2004), where he held the Esther Greenberg Honors Chair in Biomedical Research, and the Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand (2015).
Dr. Miyamoto (MD/PhD) has a multifaceted background in urology, pathology, and steroid hormone receptor research. He has been the faculty as a surgical pathologist as well as an independent investigator at University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (2009-2013/2016-present) and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2013-2016). He is currently the director of genitourinary pathology at University of Rochester Medical Center. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and 17 book chapters.
Prof. Stefano Palomba was born in Naples and obtained cum laude his Medical Degree and Specialization in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Federico II University of Naples. In 2009, he won the Award of the European Society of Gynecology as best researcher under 40. He was Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University “Magna Graecia” of Catanzaro as until 2011. To date, he is Full Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Head of Training and Scientific Research of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of the IRCCS – ASMN of Reggio Emilia, in Italy. Prof. Palomba is author of more than 250 peer-reviewed papers with a personal H-factor of 40. His main fields of interest are the Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Member of several journals, and specifically he is member of the Editorial Board of Clinical Immunology, Endocrine & Metabolic Drugs.
Margherita Sisto received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Bari University School of Medicine (Italy) and she works as a Professor of Human Anatomy and a Researcher at Department of Basic Medical Science, University of Bari Medical Science, Italy. Her scientific interest lies in investigating the molecular mechanisms that regulate the initiation, evolution and the effects of inflammation in autoimmune conditions and to identify new therapeutic strategies for the design of new generation of anti-inflammatory drugs. She is Peer Reviewer of international journals and author of about 200 original articles on peer-reviewed journals.
Giuseppe Valacchi obtained his B.S. with Laude in physio-pathology and his PhD degree in Cell Physiology and Neuroimmuno-physiology at the University of Siena. During his pre-doc and post doc training he has worked in the Department of MCB at the University of California at Berkeley and at the University of California at Davis. He is Associate Prof at NCSU, NC, USA. From 2008 to 2015 he was also Adjunct Prof. at Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea. He is author of circa 200 peer reviewed internationals papers, 15 book chapters, one book. He has been invited speaker to more than 90 international conferences and organizer/Chair to circa 50 international meetings.
Dr. Li-Na Wei is a Distinguished McKnight University Professor of University of Minnesota and a Professor of Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Wei‘s research focuses on regulatory mechanisms and signaling pathways of the actions of hormones in a physiological and pathological context, particularly the control of gene and protein expression and signal transduction in modulating innate immunity, brain functions (stress and behavior), and metabolism.
Dr. Muhammad Khan received his doctoral degree in Cell Biology/Cancer Chemical Biology from Northeast Normal University. Dr. Khan served as Assistant Professor in Department of Zoology, University of the Punjab. Currently he is working as Associate Professor in College of Basic Medical Sciences of Dalian Medical University. Targeting deregulated cell signaling pathways in cancer cells with natural small molecules and exploiting biochemical properties of cancer cells for selective killing of cancer cells is the main focus of Dr. Khan’s current research. Dr. Khan has authored and co-authored 37 published scientific research articles, one book and one book chapter.
