He obtained MSc. from Imperial College London, U.K., in 1992 and a Ph.D. from the University of Liverpool, U.K. in 1996. He was a visiting professor at Pennsylvania State University, U.S. and also at Chiba University, Japan. He received the Top 2014 Paper Award from Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies, Wiley, and also received the Busan Science and Technology Award for outstanding research achievements in 2020. He was a keynote speaker for international conferences, such as 11 th IFIP WMNC and 12 th CSNDSP. He is an associate Editor of IEEE Access and a senior member of IEEE. His research interests are visible light communications, UAV wireless communications and ultraviolet scattering communications.

He has been with Shanghai Jiao Tong University since 2010. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Automation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In 2011, he was a visiting professor at Sloan School of Management, MIT.

His current research interests include nonlinear modeling and analysis, fuzzy logic control, networked control systems, and human factor modelling. Dr. Dan Huang has published one monograph with Springer. He has published extensively at leading journals and flagship conferences. He is the founding and Co-Editor-in-Chief of this journal, published by Bentham Science Publishers.

Dr. Makki has also served as a Technical Program Co-Chair and Technical Program Vice-Chair for National Science Foundation Workshop on an Infrastructure for Mobile and Wireless Systems 2001, as well as Vice Conference-Chair, Registration Chair, Publication Co-Chair, Conference Operation Co-Chair and Technical Program Committee (TPC) for numerous conferences sponsored and supported by IEEE, ACM, and Springer member and reviewer for a number of IEEE, ACM and NSF. He also has received a number of achievement awards in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment and services.

Currently, he is a scientist at the Department of Internet of Things Connectivity, Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore. He has published 128 journal and conference technical papers on microstrip-based microwave components. His research interests include multilayered microstrip-based structures, millimeter-wave antennas, radio-frequency identification reader antennas, Global Positioning System/Global Navigation Satellite System, ultra-wide-band antennas, metamaterials-based microstrip antennas, satellite antennas, circularly polarized microstrip antennas, and small antennas for TV white space communications. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. He was awarded a senior research fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India in Engineering Science (2001–2003); a Discovery Projects fellowship from the Australian Research Council (2004–2006); and the Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Radio Science (2005).

Dr. Yuchen Liu is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at NC State University. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Yuchen also seeks to develop novel software and testbeds for the evaluations of computer networks with enhanced efficiency and run-time scalability. All research topics are investigated using theory, algorithms, simulation, and experimental techniques, which aim to increase the intelligence, capacity, and robustness of next-generation network systems that support emerging applications on mobile edges, and enable the freedom experience via untethered and smart connectivity.

Prof Oyerinde is an NRF (National Research Foundation) rated scientist, registered professional engineer (Pr.Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), registered engineer (R.Eng) with COREN, Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (SMIEEE), Corporate Member of NSE amongst others. His current research focuses on wireless communications with specific interests in 5G and beyond 5G technologies including OFDM system, NOMA systems, Massive MIMO, mmWave Massive MIMO, channels estimation, multiuser detection and other signal processing techniques for wireless communication systems. Prof. Oyerinde has authored/co-authored more than 75 articles in both conference proceedings and journals.

His main research interests focus on computational intelligence, high-speed neural-like systems, non-iterative machine learning algorithms, and image processing techniques.
