Abstract

Patient safety science is made up of various sorts of acronyms and foreign like notions. The acronyms included are as follow: HROs, IOM, NPSF, FMEA, RCA, TJC, IHI; whereas, the concepts are a combination of human factors engineering, error analysis, error reporting systems, safety design, the human-machine interface, and reliability theory. This section will mainly cover the concepts and origin of safety science together with a brief description involving the integration of patient safety and quality improvement.
