Abstract: Plastocyanin was purified from the gymnosperm Ginkgo biloba L., and its complete amino acid sequence was determined. The protein was shown to contain Phe-83 instead of Tyr-83 conserved in other land plant plastocyanins. This is the first report of the characterization and complete amino acid sequence of a gymnosperm plastocyanin.
