Abstract: Peptides have numerous application possibilities in chemistry, biology, medicine, and pharmaceutical and materials sciences. Their traditional synthesis, however, usually poses major environmental problems. The goal of this review is to evaluate classic and contemporary methods and highlight efforts toward environmentally benign synthesis of peptides.
