Abstract: An efficient and convenient approach towards the synthesis of series of tetrahydro-4H-chromenes via one pot three component coupling reactions of aldehyde, dimedone and malononitrile carried out at room temperature in presence of triethylammonium acetate [TEAA] ionic liquid as a catalyst. Reusability of the catalyst with optimized reaction conditions has also been investigated. The present methodology was found to be economically feasible and environmentally benign.
