Abstract: This investigation reports on the drug interactions between chitosans and antibiotics in Staphylococcus aureus. The combination study shows that chitosan oligosaccharides have synergistic effect in combination with tetracycline, ceftriazone and sulfamethoxazole. Also, high molecular weight chitosan was found to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus in combination with Sulfamethoxawzole. These results indicate the potential efficacy of chitosans in combinations with antibiotics for enhancing total biological activity.
