Abstract: More than five thousand naturally occurring flavonoids are known to exist. In this paper, we review the synthesis and transformation of flavan, flavone, flavonol, proanthocyanidin, anthocyanin, and related compounds on the basis of new and conceptual methodologies that have arisen in the last decade (2000-2010).
