Abstract:A simple and convenient one-pot multi-component reaction has been described for the synthesis of 3,4,5-
substituted furan-2(5H)one from amines, aldehydes and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates in presence of sucrose. This
method offers several advantages such as high yield, using sucrose as a cheap and readily available catalyst, readily available
starting materials, and involving less hazardous chemical techniques.
