The state-of-the-art and possibilities offered by derivative spectrophotometry in the field of pharmaceutical
analysis during the period 2008 – 2012 are reviewed. This paper draws attention to the fact that derivative treatment continues
to be a promising tool for analysis of spectra composed of unresolved bands as it provides selective, validated, simple
and cost effective analytical methods.
