Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia in the setting of acute coronary syndrome and acute
ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). This review summarizes recent evidence on the clinical and prognostic
significance of pre-existent and new-onset AF in acute STEMI patients and highlights new emerging predictors of AF development
in the era of contemporary treatment.
