Abstract: A series of tacrine based cholinesterase inhibitors was designed, synthesized and assayed for their biological activity. Among them, five compounds inhibited acetylcholinesterase in micromolar range and most of the compounds demonstrated much better selectivity for AChE than reference compound tacrine.
