Abstract: The preparation of 2-diphenylphosphinoyl-2-halogenated biphenyls led to gaining interesting insight into the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of ortho-halogenated penylboronic acids. Advantages and limitations on the use of halogenated biphenyls for the synthesis of diphosphine ligands are presented.
