Current Physical Chemistry

Dr. Israël-Martyr Mbomekallé is CNRS research scientist since 2007. He received his PhD in electrochemistry from the Université Paris-Sud (Orsay) in 2003. His research interests focus on polyoxometalates, nanomaterials and electrochemistry with relatively two main axes: 1) synthesis and characterization 2) electrochemistry and electro-catalytic applications. He is co-author of more than 77 scientific papers in international journals.

Prof. Vito Capozzi was graduated in Physics and now is full professor of Medical Physics at the University of Foggia (Italy) since 2001. His main research activities have concerned optical and structural properties of semiconductors; optical and morphological properties of nanoaggregates of solid particles; optical and structural properties of biological molecules and biopolymers having interest in biomedical applications. Moreover, his recent research concerns morphological and micro-Raman spectroscopy investigation of biological human cells exposed to chemical agents, microwave radiation and charged particles used in radiotherapy.

Dr. Rubio is Professor of Physical Chemistry and member of the Pluridisciplinary Research Institute at Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). He has served as manager of the Spanish Chemistry Research Program, Vicesecretary General of the National Research Plan, and Head of the Physical Chemistry Department of Complutense University. He has authored more than 180 papers and one patent, and has been advisor of over 25 Ph.D. students. He has managed more than 30 research projects funded by national and European agencies, as well as by private companies. Dr. Rubio’s research is focussed in Colloidal and Interfacial Science.

He is working as a Director, Institute of Research & Development, Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. Formally, he has worked as the Director, Nirma University of Science & Technology, Director, School of Sciences, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and Professor and Head, Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Technology Engineering, M. S. University of Baroda. Prior to this he has served at the various prestigious institutions of the country like NCL, Pune, IIT, Bombay, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, IISc, Bangalore etc. in various capacities. Prof. Agrawal has visited and experienced at the various International Universities of USA, UK, Australia, Spain, Israel and Germany.

Dr.G. Ajithkumar is currently a faculty at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Texas at San Antonio,Texas,USA. He has over 20 years of experience in the area of optical materials research and development. Previously he worked with many leading academic institutions including: Rutgers University of New Jersey, Institute for Laser Science at the University of Electro-Communications in Japan; the Center for Investigations in Optics in Mexico; International School of Photonics at CUSAT, India. He has authored six patents and over 120 research publications, and is on the editorial advisory board two international journals. Dr. Kumar holds B.Sc, MSc and Ph.D. in Physics. He was also the recipient of the SPIE green photonics award in 2012.

I received my B. Sc. and M. Sc. Degrees from Burdwan University and PhD from Jadavpur University, worked under Prof. Pradyot Banerjee at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata in 1991. I have established an experimental chemistry group studying Proton Transfer and Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions of Fischer Carbene Complexes, Molecule based Magnets: 3d, and 3d-4f Complexes with SMM, SCM or SIM behaviour, Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis and Molecular Sensors with special interest towards Small Molecules like Nitric Oxide, Thiols etc. recognition.

Dr. Anni is permanent researcher in the University of Salento, in Lecce (Italy). He has about 20 years of experience in optical spectroscopy of condensed matter, with particular interest for organic semiconductor and inorganic semiconductor nanoparticles. Dr Anni holds a PhD in Physics. In 2000 he has been visiting scientist in Politecnico di Milano in the group of Prof. Guglielmo Lanzani to perform experiments of ultrafast spectroscopy on molecular films. In 2002 he has been guest scientist of the Ludwig Maximillian Universität of Munich (Germany) in the group of Prof. Jochen Feldmann to study the emission properties of single polymeric molecules. In 2006 he created the Photonic Laboratory of the Dipartimento di Matematica e Fisica "Ennio De Giorgi". The research activity of the laboratory is focused on the investigation of the optical properties of innovative materials for applications to laser, sensors and solar cells. He is author of more than 100 publications on international journals and co-author of three patents.

Dr. Sudip Kumar Batabyal is the Senior Research Scientist in ACIRI, Amrita University, India. Prior to join here He worked as senior research scientist in ERI@N, NTU and NUS in Singapore for more than 8 years. Dr. Sudip received his M.Sc in Physics from Vinoba Bhave University and Ph.D from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science ( IACS), India. His primary research interests are photovoltaics, photoelectrochemical systems and energy storage. His research work has been published (~90 publications) in many high impact factor journals such as Nature Communication, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano and Advanced Energy Materials etc.

Prof. Pascal Boulet earned his PhD thesis diploma from both the University of Lyon (France) and the University of Geneva (Switzerland) in 2001. Pascal Boulet then moved to University College London (UK) where he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow on clay-polymers nanocomposite materials using Monte carlo molecular dynamics simulations. From 2004 to 2017, he was associate professor at the University of Aix-Marseille (France). His field of interest mainly deals with transport properties in bulk and low-dimensional materials for energy applications. He has published over 60 papers in renowned journals.

M. G. Buonomenna, born in 1975, obtained her degree in Chemistry from the University of Salerno (Italy) in 1998. She holds a Master in Membrane Materials and Operations from Institute on Membrane and Technology (ITM) (former IRMERC)-National Research Council (CNR) and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering and Materials from the University of Calabria. In 2014 she obtained the qualification of Associate Professor in Chemical Fundamentals of Technologies from the Italian Ministry for Instruction, University and Research (MIUR). She has been an invited speaker in numerous international conferences and referee for international Research Agencies as well as journals including Energy & Environmental Science, Chemical Communications, Microporous and Mesoporous Materials. M. G. Buonomenna is author of more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, 100 publications in congress proceedings, 9 chapters of scientific books and editor of 1 book on advanced membrane materials.

Uwe Burghaus is the author of more than 100 scientific publications focusing on experimental surface chemistry. Some keywords describing his work include nanocatalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, molecular beam scattering, adsorption dynamics, kinetics, spectroscopy applied to metal oxides, supported nano metal/oxide clusters, nanotubes, bimetallic systems, nanocarbon, inorganic nanostructures, Monte Carlo simulations, and microkinetics. He was originally educated as a physicist, but moved into the physical chemistry field. In addition to his academic work, he is the owner of a part-time small business (www.LatheCity.com) conducting engineering and scholarly projects.

Sylvio Canuto is Professor of Physics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. A member of the Brazilian Academy of Science, he graduated and obtained the Master Degree in Physics obtaining his PhD in Quantum Chemistry at the University of Uppsala in 1979. He was a post-doctor at the Quantum Theory Project at the University of Florida (USA). He authored or co-authored nearly 300 papers (including book chapters) in international peer-reviewed journals. His research interest is on molecular structure, spectra, reactivity and photochemistry of molecules both isolated and interacting with solvents, using methods that combine quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics.

Giorgio Contini is Researcher and Head of the SAMOS Laboratory at the Istituto di Struttura della Materia (ISM), National Research Council (CNR) and Acting Professor at the Physics Department, Tor Vergata University, Roma, Italy. He got a PhD in Materials for Health, Environment and Energy from University Tor Vergata, Roma, Italy and a MSc in Physics from University La Sapienza, Roma, Italy. Its research activity has been developed in molecular physics and chemical physics of surfaces. The principal aim is to develop organic molecular structures on surfaces that are of particular importance for molecular electronic devices, sensors and catalysis.

Ingo Dierking obtained his PhD at the Technical University of Clauthal, Germany, in 1995, before he went to work for IBM at the T.J. Watson Research Center. After a few years at the Department of Physics at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden, and in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, he joined the School of Physics at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2002 as Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor. He is the former President of the British Liquid Crystal Society and the present Secretary of the International Liquid Crystal Society.

Xiaosheng Fang is currently professor at Fudan University, China. After completing his Ph.D. degree at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006, he worked at the National Institute for Materials Science, Japan as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow, and then as an International Center for Young Scientists researcher. His research focuses on inorganic semiconductor nanostructure-based photodetectors. He has published more than 135 papers in international journals. The journal publications have already generated over 10000 citations, and h-index is 58.

José R. B. Gomes is a Principal Researcher (Investigador FCT) at the Aveiro Institute of Materials (CICECO), University of Aveiro, Portugal. His interests include computational studies of interactions and reactions of molecules at interfaces, and of structural and spectroscopic properties of molecular systems. Particularly, Dr. Gomes was the recipient of the Vicente de Seabra medal (2010) from the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) for the high-quality, originality and autonomy of his scientific research. He has co-authored more than 170 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals, six book chapters, and delivered many talks at conferences. Dr. Gomes is also the coordinator of the Computing and Modelling research line at CICECO.

Dr. Rosalinda Inguanta is an Assistant Professor (tenure track) of B type Applied Physical Chemistry at University of Palermo. She was Recipient of FIAMM 2009 prize for PhD Dissertation in Electrochemistry (awarded by Italian Division of the Società Chimica Italiana). Since 2014, Dr. Inguanta is a qualified Full Professor recognized by an International Examination Board established through the Italian Ministry of Education.

Dr. Guohua Jiang was born in Zhejiang, China, in 1975. He received his M.S. degree in 2003 at Hangzhou Normal University, China and Ph.D degree in 2006 at the Zhejiang University, China. In the year 2006 to 2008, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and University of Michigan, USA. Currently, Dr. Jiang is a full professor in Department of Materials Engineering at Zhejiang Sci Tech University, China. His research focuses on environmental-responsive polymer materials for drug delivery and carbon nanofiber-based composites for catalytic and fuel applications.

Carlo Lamberti Master thesis Physics in 1988, PhD in solid state physics in 1993. He is associate prof. in physical chemistry at the Torino University (Italy) since 2006 and scientific director of the “Smart Materials” center at the Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don, (Russia) since 2014. He is the Italian coordinator of the European Master in Materials Science MaMASELF since 2007. He is expert in synchrotron radiation experiments. He has published more than 300 scientific paper, letters and reviews that have obtained more than 15000 (18000) citations, resulting in an h-index of 68 (76) according to ISI WoS (Google Scholar).

Dr. Duy Le is a scientist at the department of Physics of the University of Central Florida (USA). He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2012. Since then, his research interests lie primarily in the applications of computational chemistry and machine learning methods to the understanding of structural properties, electronic structures, and applications of novel nano-materials with the focus on materials for industrially useful catalysts. His works were published in various well-recognized journals.

Dr. Peng LIU is currently a professor at Lanzhou University (China). He received his BEng degree from Northwestern Polytechnical University (China) in 1996 and PhD degree from Lanzhou University in 2001. He was a postdoctoral researcher in Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS from 2001 to 2003 and visiting professor in Akita Prefectural University (Japan) from 2011 to 2012. His research interests mainly focus on the micro-/nano-structured functional polymeric materials and composites for biomedical, energy and environmental applications. He has authored near 300 original papers and reviews in SCI-indexed journals and 8 invited book chapters.

Prof. Giuseppe Loglio graduated in 1969 from the University of Florence (Italy) as chemist. Since 1969, he is active in several lines of research related to static and dynamic properties of liquid/fluid interfacial layers. He is co-author of about 170 publications. Essentially, the main scientific interest and expertise consists in the fields of surface thermodynamics and of interfacial rheology (with applications to foams and emulsions in industrial products, natural waters and oceanography). Particular investigations involve transport phenomena at liquid/fluid interfaces, protein-surfactant interactions, nanoparticlesurfactant interactions. He is principal investigator in microgravity missions.

Dr. Demetrio Milea is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the CHIBIOFARAM Department of the University of Messina, Italy. His research is mainly focused (but not limited) to the determination of formation thermodynamic parameters in multicomponent aqueous solutions, as well as the evaluation and modeling of the speciation of ligands and cations of biological, technological, and environmental interest in different conditions. Main topics are: Speciation analysis; Chemical thermodynamics; Coordination chemistry; Metal and ligand interactions; Determination of thermodynamic parameters and dependence on system conditions; Sequestration/remediation; Computer programs; Chemical modeling. His research is performed mainly by electrochemical, spectroscopic, calorimetric and thermal analysis techniques.

Sourav Pal is presently Senior Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay from June 2015, after serving in CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He was the Director, NCL, Pune before moving to IIT Bombay. He obtained his doctorate from Calcutta University and carried out post-doctoral studies in University of Florida, USA and Heidelberg University, Germany in 1986-88. He is one of the leading theoretical researchers in coupled-cluster based response properties as well as in general electronic structure theory. He is a recipient of the highest national award in research in India. He is an author of more than 250 research publications.

Hary Razafindralambo is a senior researcher and assistant teacher in Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech of the University of Liege in the field of physical chemistry of interfaces and colloidal systems. He received his PhD level on Agricultural Sciences and Biological Engineering (1996) and a master's level on Chemical Engineering (1990) at the Faculty of Gembloux (Belgium). His research interests are focused on probiotics and their metabolites, interactions, and synergism. He is currently project principal investigator on probiotics and book editor of Trends in Probiotic Applications. He has generated about 90 scientific outputs, including peer-review papers, book chapters, patent, and oral communications.

Dr Benjaram Mahipal Reddy did his Ph D (1986) at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, where he holds a Chief Scientist and Head of Inorganic & Physical Chemistry Division position. He has been a visiting scientist or an award fellow at various institutes and universities in USA, Russia, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Switzerland. So far he has guided 35 Ph D and 50 M Sc/M Tech/B Tech students for their degrees. He has more than 280 research publications (h-index 48) in high impact journals and holds 8 patents to his credit. He has been serving as editorial board member for Journal of CO2 Utilization (Elsevier), Applied Petrochemical Research (Springer) and Current Physical Chemistry (Bentham Science), regional editor for Current Catalysis (Bentham Science), and guest editor for Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research (ACS) and Catalysis Today (Elsevier).

Federico Rosei has held the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Nanostructured Organic and Inorganic Materials between 2003 and 2013. He is Professor and Director of Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, Université du Québec, Varennes (QC) Canada. Since January 2014 he holds the UNESCO Chair in Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion, Saving and Storage and since May 2016 he also holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier I) in Nanostructured Materials. He received MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1996 and 2001, respectively. His H index is 46.

Professor Victor Starov, PhD, DSc, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Victor Starov is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Loughborough University, UK. For more than 30 years Victor is involved in research related to kinetics of wetting and spreading. Published more than 250 scientific papers. Member of Editorial Board on 10 Journals

Margherita Venturi is full professor in Chemistry at the University of Bologna. From 1972 to 1991 she worked at the National Research Council of Bologna in the field of Radiation Chemistry In 1992 she moved to the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician” of the University of Bologna, where she is still now. Her present research interests are mainly focused on the development of molecular-level devices and machines. She is co-author of more than 240 scientific papers, including several reviews, published in the most relevant international journals. In 2014 she received the Gold Medal Gabriello Illuminati from the Italian Chemical Society.

Dr. Xie is a professor in Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, P. R. China. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the research on organic/polymeric optoelectronic materials and devices. Dr. Xie has authored more than 150 scientific papers and 18 patents in the field of organic optoelectronic materials and devices.

Fabio Chiarella received the Master degree summa cum laude in Physics in 2002 and the PhD in Innovative Technologies for Materials, Sensors and Imaging in 2005 at the University of Napoli ‘Federico II’ collaboration with STMicroelectronics and the IMEM-CNR institute of Parma. He is interested in both the synthesis of thin films and the realization of thin film devices as well as of their characterization in particular through the scanning probe microscopies, of organic semiconductors and hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites.

Dr. V. Jagannadham, is Editor-in-Chief of “World Journal of Chemical Education” published by Science & Educational Publishing, USA. His research interests are reaction kinetics and mechanisms, radiation chemistry and fast reaction kinetics organic cation reactivity . He has published 126 papers and 4 review articles with an average impact factor of 2.1 and more than 2000 citations.

Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, did his Ph.D from Department of chemistry, Govt P.G. college Jhalawar-326001 Rajasthan India (Affilation- U.O.K. Kota Rajasthan, India) . His Research interest is Physical chemistry, Surface chemistry, Colloidal chemistry, synthesis of surfactants, chemical kinetics, environmental chemistry etc. He published 60 papers in International and National journals. His research experience is 08 years. He presented his research work in 40 national and international conferences. He published 15 books in lambert Academic Publishing Germany and one chapter in Book by Intech publisher Croatia, two chapters in books by discovery publishers New Delhi India.
