Abstract

Dr. Hippokratis Kiaris received his B.Sc. in 1993 from the Department of Biology at the University of Athens and his Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Crete, Greece. His post doctoral training was accomplished in the laboratories of the Nobel Laureate, Professor Andrew V. Schally at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA and Professor Spyros Artavanis-Tsakonas, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. Since 2003 he joined the faculty of the Department of Biological Chemistry at the University of Athens Medical School. His research interests focus on the extrapituitary effects of growth hormone - releasing hormone and the role of tumor-stroma interactions in carcinogenesis. He has authored more than 50 original research papers and his work has received more than 1000 citations.
