Abstract: Three-component reaction between arylglyoxal monohydrates, isocyanides and 1,3- diketones in water is reported. This reaction provides a simple and efficient route for the synthesis of poly-functionalized furan derivatives. The reaction conditions and work-up procedure are simple and products were obtained in good yields.
