Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) sonoembryology allows the analysis of embryonic surface structures (rendering mode), with enhanced detail, and offers the possibility of performing a volumetric study of the gestational sac, embryo, yolk sac, amniotic fluid and placenta during the first trimester of pregnancy. Furthermore, the identification of abnormalities in these structures can also predict early pregnancy failure and determine new predictors of pregnancy outcome. Therefore, the main aspects of sonoembryology and the structure volumes observed during the first trimester of pregnancy using 3DUS were being decrypted in this chapter.
