Abstract

Diels Alder cycloaddition is one of the most valuable reactions in organic chemistry for the building of cyclic systems. Recent advances in metabolic engineering, computational methods and chemical biology in general, have allowed designing new artificial enzymes. Apart from, metal and simple organic catalysts more complex catalytic systems based on proteins, RNA and DNA fragments have been demonstrated to be active as Diels- Alderases. This review covers selected advances in the field of artificial enzyme-catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction in last two decades.

Keywords: Antibody catalysis, de novo computational enzyme design, Diels Alderase, Diels-Alder reaction, DNA catalysis, mechanistic studies, RNA catalysis.
