Abstract

Injection moulding is the main manufacturing technology in micro system technology for the production of complex micro parts made of plastics. Joining steps in the process chain performed after the injection moulding process requires occasionally special part features, like absorbable elements for laser welding or energy directors for ultrasonic welding. Due to the already small parts, these features are even smaller. In this paper, a 1C- and a 2C-injection moulding process will be presented, which is used to produce the components of a micro pump. One part of the pump is re-designed to save process and assembling steps and thus shortens the process chain in order to provide a more economic production approach. Due to the special part design, the filling course of the part will be simulated. The part will be moulded with a standard polymer grade and a high performance grade. With the mouldings, the following joining technologies can be carried out and compared subsequently.
