Abstract
This review focuses on the application and implication of CEC for natural product analysis, with special emphasis on reports published after 2005. The basic concepts and principles of CEC are outlined, and the techniques advantages and disadvantages are discussed in context with the available stationary phase format. Special attention is given to the application of packed beds and monolithic formats of CEC with both silica-based and in situ formed polymeric stationary phases. The most promising applicative platforms are presented and their potential for natural product analysis is discussed.
Keywords: CEC, column technology, natural products, applications, review, monolithic formats, silica-based, electrokinetic phenomena, liquid chromatography, electroosmotic flow, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), microscale analysis technique, hybrid technique, electrical double layer (EDL), copolymerization, re-optimization, mass transfer properties, post-functionalization, photoinitiation, Organic acrylic polymer monoliths, open tubular column, styrenes, methacrylates, surface chemistry, organic polymer monolith, alkylation, gradient p-CEC, Rhizoma Coptidis, sol-gel process, Coumarins, Angelica dahurica, Flavonoids, Polyphenols, Lignans, Triterpenes and Steroids, sitosterol, campesterol, Xanthones, Fingerprinting, background electrolyte, ethylene dimethacrylate, lauryl methacrylate

Carbohydrates conversion in biofuels and bioproducts
Biomass pretreatment, hydrolysis, and saccharification of carbohydrates, and sugars bioconversion in biofuels and bioproducts within a biorefinery framework. Carbohydrates derived from woody biomass, agricultural wastes, algae, sewage sludge, or any other lignocellulosic feedstock are included in this issue. Simulation, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle analysis of a biorefinery process are ...read more
Catalytic C-H bond activation as a tool for functionalization of heterocycles
The major topic is the functionalization of heterocycles through catalyzed C-H bond activation. The strategies based on C-H activation not only provide straightforward formation of C-C or C-X bonds but, more importantly, allow for the avoidance of pre-functionalization of one or two of the cross-coupling partners. The beneficial impact of ...read more
