In recent years, the field of heterocyclic chemistry has been revolutionized with the use of
transition metal catalysts. To achieve greater levels of molecular complexity and better functional
group compatibilities, various research groups have focused on the development of general protocols
which use easily available starting substrates under mild reaction conditions. This goal involved the
introduction of molecular rearrangement steps into transition metal-catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions.
These methods have an important advantage, in comparison to alternative pathways, in the synthesis
of heterocyclic compounds with new substituents. This manuscript reported the synthesis of nitrogen-
containing five-membered heterocycles usingcopper catalysts.
