The incidence of esophageal cancer is following a rising trend, whereas the associated survival rate remains poor. This condition is highly associated with poor prognosis. Nonetheless, some of markers were found to be up regulated in esophageal cancer and were considered as potential prognostic indicators. As a result, we have evaluated the prognostic value of biomarkers in three signaling pathways, Wnt, Notch and Apoptosis Signaling Pathway which play major roles in tumorigenesis and disease progression. To evaluate the efficacy of these markers and their potential use in clinical setting, clinical investigation should be performed to confirm the effect of these biomarkers in invasion and tumorigenesis. This analysis can be considered as a source of Biomarker evaluation, which can be a useful and valuable means for cancer prevention and diagnosis. Overall, biomarker analysis and clinical evaluation can lead to the introduction of novel biomarker panels for accurate prognosis, diagnosis and patient follow-up in order to increase the overall survival rate.
