Background: The interest for nanogel systems is entirely justified as they are considered as
the most effective carriers owing to their nanometer-sized dimensions, which allow holding more large
amounts of solvent for incorporate bioactive drugs within their nanoscale three-dimensional polymer
Objective: The research is following the synthesis and properties of a new nanogel structure based on
poly(itaconic anhydride-co-3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5] undecane) and a low molecular
mass gelator, namely cholesterol.
Method and Results: The chemical structure of the new network system was investigated by FTIR
and 1HNMR. The sensitivity of the new structures was evaluated by determining the hydrodynamic
radius in interdependence with the environmental condition.
Conclusion: The chemical composition of the new 3D structure was confirmed by FT-IR and 1HNMR
spectroscopy. Also, the new PITAU_Ch presents a sinusoidal sensitivity with temperature,
which was attributed to a new hydrophilic/hydrophobic status for the new compound.
