Recently, multimedia content is used everywhere because of the variety of applications. So the analysis
of multimedia content becomes a highlight today. In one side, multimedia content is based on invisible
multisource data, in another side, multimedia content is expressed as multimodal interaction. Though there
are lots of studies in this field, more remaining issues are waiting for solving, for example, visualization,
computer vision, information processing and recognition, virtual/augmented reality and so on. In
particular, the uses of sophisticated and robust researches and applications are important.
So, this special issue aims to provide an opportunity for researchers to publish their gifted theoretical
and technological studies with theory and practical engineering applications in multimedia. This special
issue will be focus on the state-of-the-art research and application as well as review in the studies of all
areas regarding multimedia.
‘Design of security monitoring platform for intelligent irrigation system based on cloud services’ designs
and implements a remote visualization intelligent irrigation system based on cloud services, which is the
ultimate goal of intelligent irrigation system. Through the realization of remote visualization system of
intelligent watering irrigation system based on cloud service simulation, real-time remote visual monitoring.
To water the flowers for instance of irrigation, detailing the remote visualization intelligent watering system,
around the system each function module detailed design. Finally, a remote visualization intelligent irrigation
system based on cloud service is realized. The system integrates the function of remote irrigation and
visualization, realizes the intelligent irrigation of crops through the Internet of things sensor technology, and
realizes remote visualization using video monitoring technology. Compared with the existing remote
irrigation system, the system has a unique visual advantage, which has a great market prospect.
With the advent of internet times, the combination of the basketball teaching and multimedia becomes
more and more closely, and the use of computer multimedia technology to effectively test the tactical
awareness has been widely concerned. In ‘Research on basketball tactical consciousness aided training
system based on Multimedia Technology’, Based on the analysis of the current development trend of
basketball, we can conclude that basketball tactical awareness training is more and more important.
However, the multimedia technology is still insufficient to the basketball tactical consciousness training.
Aiming at the deficiency, this paper designs a multimedia aided training system of basketball tactical
consciousness based on the professional theory and technology. The system test method can objectively
reflect students' basketball tactics consciousness level, using training methods can improve the students on
field situation observation, analysis and decision making ability, and promote the formation of students'
consciousness of basketball tactics in this system. Finally, by using the method of fuzzy comprehensive
evaluation on the system after the training of students A score test is carried out to verify the effectiveness
of the system.
Harris corner detection based on the characteristic value of the second order matrix to extract corner
features is regarded as one of the most successful algorithms in corner detection. In ‘Harris Corner

Based on OTSU’, OTSU algorithm shorted for the maximum variance between clusters can calculates
the maximum variance between the background area and the target area based on the image gray
histograms, and then obtain the adaptive threshold. Because Harris needs to artificially select threshold
and threshold estimation is very difficult, to solve these problems, the OHO algorithm is proposed in this
paper,which aims to optimize the Harris algorithm based on OTSU. The OHO algorithm combines the
characteristics of the high accuracy of Harris algorithm and the adaptive threshold selection of OTSU.
Experiments show that the OHO algorithm can detect more small and authentic corners than traditional
Harris, and it has better adaptability and robustness.
The switched reluctance motor has strong nonlinear feature due to its structure and operation mode, and
the performances and control methods of this new kind of motors are significantly different from those
traditional ones. As a result, the accurate modeling and high performance control of the switched
reluctance motor proves to be very important and has gained widely research. In ‘Switched Reluctance
Motor Control based on Improved Neural network’, a kind of switched reluctance motor based on PID
neural network control method is proposed, which combines artificial fish swarm and particle swarm
optimization to optimize weights and thresholds of BP neural network. Speed response of the improved
BP algorithm has no overshoot, has a smooth transition to the steady state and eliminates the oscillation
phenomena that exists in the PID control. Besides, it reduces the time of transient process to improve the
response speed. Anti-interference ability and robustness is obviously superior to the PID control.
