This review covers the reactions of 1,2- & 1,4-dihydropyridines mainly cycloaddition reactions, 1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reaction, alkoxy halogenations and addition of N-halosuccinimide, diamination / hydroxyamination, sulfonylation, sulfinylation, thiocyanation, sulfanylation bromination, bromophosphonylation and diphosphonylation, oxidation, hydroxylation & aminohydroxylation, photooxygenation reaction, Michael reaction, cyclizations (iodocyclizations, radical cyclizations), aromatization, electrophilic substitution reaction, multicomponent reactions (MCRs) involving dihydropyridine, acid catalysed dimerisation of 1,4-dihydropyridines, rearrangement reactions, photodimerisation and its reducing ability.
