Focus on Microwaves Assisted Halogen-halogen Exchange Reaction Conditions on 2-Halopyridines

This paper describes an optimised microwave irradiation methodology on various substituted pyridines in order to realise a halogen-halogen exchange. This protocol provides an efficient and simple methodology to improve the reactivity of some positions on the pyridine ring towards metallocatalysed reactions. Influence of various substituents has been explored and limiting factors of reaction have been highlighted.
